On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I am delighted to extend warm greetings to the members of Ontario’s Pakistani-Canadian community on the occasion of Pakistan Day.
Today, Pakistanis around the globe commemorate the passing of the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, and celebrate the republic’s many achievements since that pivotal moment in the history of the country. For Canadians with roots in Pakistan, this celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the rich heritage and traditions from which they draw strength, pride and inspiration.
As Premier of Ontario, I am very proud that our province is home to Canada’s largest Pakistani-Canadian community. On the occasion of Pakistan Day, I want to thank all members of the community for their vital and enduring contributions to the social, cultural and economic life of our province. Pakistani-Canadians have distinguished themselves in every field of endeavour — from the arts and academe to business and medicine.
I wish everyone a joyous celebration of Pakistan Day.
