Ontario is celebrating Women’s History Month this October by recognizing the women and girls who are making a difference in their communities. Nominations are now open for the annual Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Recognition program, an award for women and girls who are improving the lives of others through volunteer work. Since its launch in 2006, nearly 1000 women and girls from across Ontario have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to their communities.
Individuals, organizations, schools and community groups are encouraged to contact local MPP Nathalie Des Rosiers for information on how they can nominate Ottawa-Vanier area women and girls for this award. The nomination period begins in October 2017 and closes January 20, 2018.
The Ontario Government is honoured to work with women’s groups and community organizations across the province to support women and girls and advance gender equality.
Recognizing the civic contribution of women and girls is part of Ontario’s plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.
“The leadership of women and girls is essential to creating a fair society and strong economy in Ontario. I am honoured to recognize women and girls in my community through the Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Recognition Program.”
- Nathalie Des Rosiers, MPP Ottawa-Vanier
