On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I am delighted to extend warm greetings to our Jewish community as you celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut, the 69th Independence Day of Israel.
The establishment of the modern state of Israel was a profound moment for Jewish people — and one of the most inspiring achievements in human history. It marked the creation of a homeland for a people who have experienced exile and persecution.
As we mark the 69th year of the state of Israel, there is much to celebrate. Today, Israel is a strong and prosperous nation, and a leader in the global community. This occasion helps Ontario’s Jewish communities foster a stronger connection with Israelis and Jewish communities around the world. May today’s gatherings of friends and families be filled with the joy and gratitude that are the true spirit of this celebration.
I offer my best wishes for a joyous celebration.
